Sing! Children’s Chorus with Young People’s Chorus of New York City

The Music Academy’s Sing! Children’s Chorus joins the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) and YPC National in a joint concert taking place at the Marjorie Luke Theatre in Santa Barbara. The much-anticipated performance promises to captivate audiences of all ages.
The Music Academy of the West, now in its 77th Summer Music Festival season, will present the Academy’s Sing! Children’s Chorus along with the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) and YPC National in a concert, 7 pm, Sunday, July 28 at the Marjorie Luke Theatre in Santa Barbara. Concert audiences can expect a diverse repertoire that spans classical masterpieces, contemporary arrangements, and the world premiere of Rabbit on the Moon, from YPC artistic faculty and renowned composer Yuka C. Honda.
The joint concert promises an extraordinary musical experience, showcasing the exceptional talents of 150 young singers, and represents the conclusion of an exciting week-long residency by YPC and YPC National that runs July 22-29 during the Music Academy’s Summer Music Festival.
We are thrilled to once again host YPC and YPC National at the Music Academy for an inspirational week of workshops and mentoring. The residency culminates in a collaborative performance that is sure to excite both performers and the audience alike.

Sing! is the Music Academy of the West’s free, after-school children’s chorus available to Santa Barbara County students currently numbering nearly 300 participants from over 40 area schools.
Throughout the Music Academy YPC and YPC National residency, conductors, teachers, and children ages 8-18 from across the country will work with Founder and Artistic Director of YPC Francisco J. Núñez, YPC Creative Director Elizabeth Núñez, Doreen Rao, founder and artistic director of the CME Institute for Choral Teacher Education, Yuka C. Honda, and Erin McKibben, studying repertoire and refining conducting and voice skills.
The performance will take place on Sunday, July 28, at 7 pm at the Marjorie Luke Theatre in Santa Barbara. Tickets can be purchased for $10, at musicacademy.org, by phone at 805-969-8787, and at the Music Academy Carsey Ticket Office, open Monday-Friday, 10 am to 5 pm.

ABOUT THE MUSIC ACADEMY OF THE WEST
