David Elton

David Elton joined the London Symphony Orchestra as Principal Trumpet in December 2017. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Elton was Principal Trumpet with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for six years. He was also previously Principal Trumpet with the West Australian (2005-2011) and Adelaide (2000-2004) Symphony Orchestras.

David Elton has performed as a guest principal with orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO), and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. He is a founding member of the Australian Brass Quintet. As a soloist, he has performed concertos with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the ACO, and the world-premiere of James Ledger’s Trumpet Concerto with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Following studies in Australia, Mr. Elton gained a Masters Degree in Performance from Northwestern University, USA, where he studied with Charles Geyer and Barbara Butler. He is a member of the brass faculty at the Australian National Academy of Music.
