James Conlon
James Conlon is one of today’s most versatile and respected conductors. Since his 1974 debut with the New York Philharmonic, he has conducted virtually every major American and European symphony orchestra. Through worldwide touring, an extensive discography and videography, numerous writings, television appearances and guest speaking engagements, Conlon has become one of classical music’s most recognized figures. He is Music Director of the LA Opera (where he leads Verdi’s Don Carlo, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel, Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito, and Verdi’s La Traviata in the 2018-19 season), and Principal Conductor of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra in Torino, Italy. He is also a noted advocate for composers suppressed by the Nazi regime. Among numerous prizes, he has received four Grammy® Awards for recordings with LA Opera, and in 2002, the Légion d'Honneur from then-President of the French Republic, Jacques Chirac.
