Jane M. Saks
Jane M. Saks is the Founding President and Artistic Director of Project&, an arts entity focused on cultural production with social impact. She is an artist, creator, writer, curator, producer, creative advisor and series producer on many original creative works in various media and art forms as well as arts advocate, producer, writer and educator. Her work challenges and champions issues of gender, sexuality, human rights, race and power within the worlds of arts and culture, politics and civil rights, academia and philanthropy. Project& collaborates and partners with artists to create new models of cultural participation & experiences with social impact. We focus our work through artistic excellence in three areas: Global Dialogues, Innovative Studios and the Project& Fellowships that are collaborations with individual artists to create groundbreaking and original, multidisciplinary productions and work. She has been a Visiting Critic at Yale University, School of the Art Institute, a speaker at the Illinois Correctional Facilities and visiting lecturer at MIT. She is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College and Rome University.
Our extraordinary collaborators include emergent as well as award-winning artists—such as MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Lynsey Addario, MacArthur Fellow and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage, MacArthur Fellow and Avery Fisher Prize-winning flutist Claire Chase, acclaimed visual artist Hank Willis Thomas, Award winning composer, Marcos Balter, accomplished scholar and artist E. Patrick Johnson, Scholar, Poet, Eve L Ewing, Pulitzer-Prize winning composer Du Yun, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Yance Ford, Hon. Albie Sachs, South Africa Constitutional Court Judge, anti-apartheid leader and scholar, and innovative multi-disciplinary artists, Kaneza Schaal, Chris Myers and Cheryl Pope.
