Innovation Institute

In addition to its commitment to all fellows’ artistic excellence, Music Academy fosters their entrepreneurial thinking and endeavors. In seminars throughout the festival as well as individual coaching, fellows gain expert advice on how to develop innovative ideas for their artistic future. All fellows attend inspiring career development workshops. These forward-thinking seminars cover business and communication skills, entrepreneurship, finances, technology, and other topics. Led by a range of industry leaders, these interactive experiences share best practices for building rewarding and sustainable music careers.

More about Fast Pitch: https://bit.ly/FastPitchOverviewSummer2021 Fellows pitch innovative, entrepreneurial projects to a real-time, online audience and review panel. In a “shark-tank” like event, fellows share their ideas for new ventures. Their projects may focus on artistic expression, audience and community engagement, education, social justice, technology and more. Audience voting and questioning from the judges determine which three fellows will be a Fast Pitch Awardee and each receive $1,500 as well as additional business coaching and investment by the Music Academy’s Innovation Institute, including participation in the 2022 Innovation Residential. These awards are streamed online. Streamed Live Online: Monday, August 2
A special opportunity for alumni established in 2017, and unique to the Music Academy, is the annual Alumni Enterprise Awards. This award funds innovative ideas in areas including artistic expression, audience development, education, community engagement, social justice, and technology. This award opportunity is available to all Music Academy alumni. Proposals are accepted during each fall’s AEA application cycle and must align with or challenge the Academy’s mission to further classical music education while cultivating discerning, appreciative, and adventurous audiences. Awards granted for alumni projects range from $2,500 to $20,000 based on project scope and scale. In addition to receiving funding, winners will sharpen their business skills while attending the Innovation Residential, an intensive training opportunity at the Music Academy in the spring following the awards announcements. The Residential offers AEA winners several days of professional networking and training led by prominent business and industry professionals. The Academy’s Alumni Program  celebrates, connects, and engages with our alumni throughout their careers. Alumni number nearly 7,000, performing around the globe as soloists and in major symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras, ensembles, and opera companies while others teach at prestigious universities and conservatories. The Music Academy proudly supports our alumni through events, awards, social media announcements, and more. As a 2021 fellow, we look forward to welcoming you into the Academy’s legacy of alumni who are impacting the music industry around the world and being one of your most enthusiastic ambassadors as you move forward in your career.
